Everything I've heard is that job creation is on the up and up since Obama has taken office. It's still low, but Obama had been dealt a crappy hand from Bush anyways. I don't watch news. I watch the Daily Show and I live in Australia so I don't even vote for you guys' crummy elections :ohay:

Another thing I hate is the media's focus on celebrities. Why don't magazines report on what colour my underwear is, or where I like to go to take a piss? I'm just as human as they are. It just sickens me when I hear so many people talking about what some trash bag in Hollywood did last week. I really do not give a shit, in the same way I don't care if I were told the hobo across the street got a Mars bar in his stocking on Isaac Newton's birthday.

The media needs to focus on stuff that matters, like global issues.

You mean aside from turning us around from monthly net job losses to monthly net job gains? Yeah I guess not.

ABC is pretty conservative at least locally and MSNBC at least has their facts straight even if they are clearly liberal leaning. They don't tell outright lies like fox and have less than half as many insufferable people. All their insufferable people are on during the day. I'm not sure how I feel about Lawrence O'donnell and while Al Sharpton is clearly liberal and vocally so he is an adorable old man. Rachel Maddow is awesome, Melissa Harris-Perry is awesome, Chris Mathews is awesome, and Ed is alright most of the time but he occasionally strays into partisanship (like at least once per show). Dylan Rattigan was really awesome.

Controversial opinion: Fuck Israel. If they jumped off a bridge would we follow so as not to seem anti-Semitic? What is with this fucking obsession politicians have with swearing loyalty to Israel?

Neo-liberalism in an economic sense is essentially Reaganomics, it is the product of conservative thought. Would just point that out. Liberalism as a whole is so all over the place it's hard to understand what it really means now.

    The thing is what you said about the Government taking taxes and spending it, yes, you need that to help stimulate the economy, and here to me is the problem with the Austerity program which is in right now in the UK;

If you don't take money from people, and if you try not to spend, money doesn't move around and that's ultimately the issue. You do need to spend money to make money and whilst this does increase debt, the idea is the stimulating effect will lead to increased affluence that would then make it easier to pay off said debt. Yes, there's variables and it's not quite as simple as that but what I do know for sure is if you don't try to spend your way out of a recession, you're not going to get out of it because just trying to keep money still will not fix anything.

What language would I have to speak? If it's not English, I'm headed your way.

    According to "Watchmen", yes.

You mean which language you'd have to not speak :P Probably German/French.

Then again, you can always pretend you don't know the languages :mock:

English, French, German, and Italian are the official languages of Switzerland, I believe.

Look, bub, you're so hellbent on proving something wrong I stated. If I gave a shit I could ask you for your views and proof on this.

Just read my previous posts; careful this time. So you don't have to unnecessarily post again.

You just have to go outside for a change and observe the world surrounding you, it's pretty fun actually, albeit somewhat creepy if you do it too openly:mock:

Leave out English and replace with Rhaeto-Romanic.

German is spoken and written for "official" purposes, well, anything that's higher up than writing a text to a friend.
Spoken German is Swiss-German, a very strong German accent, at times so different from German that you could almost say it's its own language. Also there's about 20 dialects on top of that, depending in which Kanton (like a state in the US) you are.

Here's a controversial opinion - the movie did better by leaving that unfortunate part out. :P
Holy fuck people, it's Stephen King. As people from Maine, I would have expected you to know. Also, the King-Boner is primarily aimed at Bangor, to be precise.
Because they're the only quasi-maybe-democracy in the Middle East with a government that isn't hostile to the West. Also because it's our fault they're there - you misread the "loyalty to Isreal". It's really more akin to "getting close to hold them on a really tight leash otherwise they'll nuke the entire region".

Seriously, they are one of the most war-mongering nations on Earth. I still remember a few years back when they invaded the country of Lebanon under the pretense of trying to recapture two of their soldiers being held by a terrorist sect. A sect, mind you, that had nothing to do with the actual government of Lebanon itself.

They deployed a new experimental missile with a drill attached to it made specifically to take out underground shelters to get at civilians trying to hide. Most of their attacks were targeted at schools and hospitals, and the vast majority of the deceased were women and children.

No one really likes Israel in the US government. We just make nice with them because we're the only thing holding them back from destroying everything, and if we were to be more forceful they would take it as a slight and go ahead - leading the entire region to unite against them, and by proxy us. China and Russia are aligned with other countries that oppose Israel, etc, etc. it would be WWIII.

Israel is our baby. Therefore it's our responsibility. We have to bear it now - there really isn't a choice in the matter.

I suppose you have a point, but there is also the problem that some politicians would go right along with any war Israel wants to get into. They always put it in nicer terms like "we have to stand by our allies" but that more or less translates into "we are willing to assist Israel commit history's most ironic genocide because owe them or something (and we'll make loads of cash)".

It didn't because the logic of leaving it out just didn't work.

See there's having a controversial opinion and there's just being wrong. I liked it when someone described that movie as "brave", because it was, it really tried, and I did like it, but even I felt that cutting out the giant alien squids and trying to replace them in the whole moral message with an omnipotent god who can wipe us all out with a thought just doesn't have the believable effect of solidarity upon people.

I would have prefered the giant squids myself, but the movie is long enough as it is and the squid part of the story in the GN took a bit of time to set up, so unless they cut out quite a bit of the other stuff, it would have made the movie way too long by that arbitrary standard of length we judge movies by.
