A part of me wonders if the Pokédex 3D is even a reliable source for the pronunciations. Sure, it's the closer we have to canon on the subject, so I'm not going to declare them wrong or anything, but was it even developed by the Pokémon team?

Scizor was the first pronunciation I ever heard and instantly thought 'that must be wrong..."

The digital manual says it's developed by Creatures Inc. I have literally no idea who that is.

The people who made Earthbound. They also helped pioneer Pokémon, and have worked on the first games, Black/White and Black2/White2, and made a few spinoff games.

It's "See-zor" with the emphasis in "see", right? I'm basing this entirely off of Smash Bros.

It's Ski-zor. When it clearly should be sigh-zor. Like Scyther. S then c when referring to blades makes simply an s sound. Like Scissor or Scythe. I would have even accepter Scissor as a pronunciation, but no. Ski-zor? Really?

    Wait -

So we have SSB and the TV show with one pronunciation, and the official Pokedex with another? Assumedly the latter is canon, but it seems awkward to have one company presenting multiple pronunciations as the correct one.

I always felt it should be "sigh-zor" too since it plays right off of "Scyther".

SSB and the Anime have Ski-zor. That's ski as in the things you slide down a mountain on. I dunno what the Pokédex says.

Pokedex says it just like how I have since I was a little bub. "sih-zor". Like scissor, but the "or" is a bit more pronounced (for reference, I pronounce scissor "sih-zer" but I'm australian so idk).

Edit: in case it's not obvious, I actually checked on the dex before posting here to be sure.

I need to use Substitute in class.

Is anyone competing in the wifi tournament now? The competition is way tougher than the last few. I've played 7 games and so far, I've been incredibly lucky to win 6, but only one was easy. Almost everyone I face seems familiar with competitive battling.

That's how I pronounce it. I don't care what anybody else says.

    I love Melee.

Are you all dense? I told you how the official pronunciation is that you're more or less correct. Why are you beating such a dead horse?

Because that's different from Brawl and the animé. OOH, lets argue about which is more canon!

    PBR says sih-zor.

Anime says sih-zor (confirmed at start of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXP8R7IfRJM)

Can't find any brawl vids, but brawl is as far from canon as any Nintendo source can get.

Not that we're... arguing canon or anything.

Hm. I've definitely seen the anime say 'ski zor', because that's why I freaked out so many years ago. We should locate every episode featuring it, compare, and cross analyse occurences to find the true canon.
