lolno SMG can completely stand on it's own, because unlike SMS, it's a competent platformer. It's based on good level design and platforming, not on spraying water. The gravity stuff is just there to compliment what makes Mario. Same way 3D is used for SM3DL.
FLUDD is the platforming in the same way that planets and gravity are SMG's platforming. If you remove any of those, you don't have the game anymore.
No. That isn't how it works. SMG's level design is a clear evolution of the classic Mario formula, kind of like how SM64 was to a certain extent. SMS is literally just landscapes and buildings. Outside the secret levels (which do fit with said Mario formula, I might add, and it's quite disappointing how they were just minor things), there was barely any real platforming at all. I mean, there's a reason SMS didn't live up to SM64 and SMG's success, literally in every way.
SMS was just landscapes and buildings because you had FLUDD. They're supposed to intertwine and compliment each other. SMS creates the platforming mechanic with water. SMG creates the platforming mechanic with gravity. The only difference is in how well the platforming is executed, and I'll admit that SMG had better platforming, but SMS wasn't bad at all.
In all honesty, I was wondering that too. Saying SMS is better than SMG is that type of opinion that you just question. Like if someone were to claim WoG is better than ALttP.
Yeah, and ALttP is one my top three favorite Zelda games, so imagine what I would think about that. Seriously, SMS is the worst Mario game ever created. I just can't sit down and play it nowadays. The water gimmick is boring. Spraying grafitti=/= fun. SMG2 is the epitome of 3D platforming, and proves that atleast Nintendo can make kickass modern games.
SMS was oodles of fun. You guys need to learn how to be grateful for what you have. There are starving children all over the world who would kill for a bite of SMS.
So, in other words, we have to like every game in the world because there's starving children out there? Nice logic...
We don't have to like them, but we shouldn't dislike them either. Unless, of course, there's a game that starving children also own and don't appreciate.
SMS is just not filling. You can have it all you want, you'll still not be satisfied. Giving it to starving children would be torture
So, there's not a single game you dislike? And what does starving children have to do with it? It has nothing to do with the quality of a game. A game should be judged on it's own merits or lack thereof, and starving children has nothing, and I mean absofuckinglutely NOTHING to do with how good a game is. If a game has, for example, broken hit detection, the fact that there`s starving children out there won`t change the fact that the game in question has broken hit detection. Your logic does not compute.
