Yellow : Pikachu(No choice, besides ZZ gets to have the other 3 as well. ^_^)

Crystal : Totodile(Somehow ended up with Cut, Surf, Ice Punch, and Slash and ZZ liked this combo for some reason... Probably because he couldn't find one he liked for the others.)

Emerald : Torchic(ZZ liked its the final evolution the most and... that was pretty much it.)

Platinum : Turtwig(ZZ decided that since he picked water for gen 2 and fire for gen 3, he might as well pick grass for gen 4 for the trinity feeling.)

Black/White : ZZ hasn't played this one, he is somewhat hoping for a 3rd one to come out as ZZ played the third one for all the previous generations. If ZZ had to decide now it would probably be Snivy.

I choose water every generation except 1. Because generation 1 has Charmander which turns into Charizard. Who is the best Pokemon ever.

Blastoise would like to have a word with you.
    Your mileage may vary.

Blastoise can kill fire itself. It's a killer of killers.

But Blastoise can also be beaten by Venasaur, who I think we can both agree is the least cool of the three. No offense to Venasaur.

Venusaur is completely awesome. However, Blastoise>Charizard>Venusaur. Gen I starters rule.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying Venasaur sucks, I'm just saying that Charizard and Blastoise are cooler. Charizard>Blastoise>Venasaur. Like swimiller said, gen 1 starters rule.

    Blastoise>Charizard>Venusaur.

Why can't there be starters like Gen I? :(

Gen 4 starters were pretty cool, too. Gen 1 is still the best, though.

While the Gen IV starters were cool (two of which I use often in battles), they don't compare to Gen I in any way. :P

I actually think Gen V rivals Gen I.

Nah, the Gen V starters were actually lower par than all of the others, partially because there were so many good Pokémon. :P

Yeah, but I'm talking about their designs. :P Gen V (fully evolved, they're pretty suckish until then) are awesome.

Oh, well I don't give a shit about designs, but almost every generation after had cooler-looking starters than Gen I. :P

There was only one, or maybe two, starters from Gen V that looked cool design-wise: Serperior and Samurott.

    You forgot Emboar.

    Gen I: All awesome.
Gen II: Could have been better if it weren't for Chikorita/Bayleaf/Meganium's less awesome style breaking the trend. And Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion's design is a bit plain.
    Gen III: All awesome.
    Gen IV: All awesome.
    Gen V: All awesome.

If anything, Gen II is lacking in awesome starter design.

And in case of Gen V, isn't it a flaw that Serperior loses its limbs? That's more like degredation than it is evolution.
